$19,990,000 To Be Handed To Customers of Popular Streaming Platform in Massive Privacy Settlement

A popular streaming platform just agreed to pay millions of dollars to customers in a privacy settlement deal.

The streaming service Tubi will pay $19.99 million after facing accusations that the company shared people’s private information without consent.

The terms of the settlement apply to people who used Tubi between June 23rd, 2021, and August 26th, 2024.

Tubi is accused of violating the Video Privacy Protection Act while sharing data with advertisers and has not admitted any wrongdoing in the settlement.

The exact amount of money users will get from the settlement is unknown and depends on how many people apply to receive their share.

The deadline to be included in the settlement is coming fast, on October 31st, 2024. A final approval hearing on the settlement will happen in early December.

Tubi users can file a claim here, using the email address they used to access Tubi.

Tubi launched back in 2014 and is based in San Francisco. The service has more than 250 channels featuring shows and films in various genres.
