Absolute acquires Syxsense to expand automated endpoint security

Cybersecurity firm Absolute Software Corp. announced today that it has acquired Syxsense Inc., the developer of a unified security and endpoint management suite, for an undisclosed price.

Founded in 2012, Syxsense specializes in providing automated solutions for endpoint and vulnerability management that help organizations improve their information technology security operations. The company’s platform offers real-time monitoring, automated patch management and threat detection, giving users visibility and control over their infrastructure.

The company is particularly focused on giving users the ability to reduce their management burden by automating processes so that teams can focus on strategic tasks while ensuring their environments are secure.

Its offerings include Syxsense Manage, a tool designed for patch management and remote control; Syxsense Secure, which offers security scanning and compliance reporting; and Syxsense Enterprise, which provides unified endpoint management and remediation. The company’s solutions support a broad range of industries, including healthcare, education, finance and government.

Key to the Syxsense platform, the company says, is its ability to automate the detection of vulnerabilities and risks, along with streamlining patching and remediation. Features such as real-time alerts, risk-based prioritization and compliance reporting help companies address security issues before they escalate.

Customers include IBM Corp, Netgear Inc., Loews Hotels Holding Corp., Best Western International Inc. and Stone Ridge Asset Management.

Post-acquisition, Absolute intends to integrate Syxsense into its existing offerings to allow customers to add automated, vulnerability and patch management capabilities. The combination of the technology will deliver existing Absolute customers with endpoint security, visibility, control, connectivity, resilience and self-healing for applications and security controls.

“We’ve built a platform that enterprises rely on to minimize risk and streamline critical security and management activities across globally distributed endpoints,” Syxsense Chief Executive Ashley Leonard said in a statement. “By leveraging Absolute’s unique position in the firmware [market], we now can deliver the industry’s only truly resilient solution to a wider market.”

Coming into the acquisition, Syxsense had raised a single round of $6 million in venture capital funding, according to Tracxn. Investors include Origami Capital Partners, Oquirrh Ventures and Signal Peak Ventures.
