Alejandro Garnacho bites back after fan mocks him on social media

Alejandro Garnacho clashed with a fan on social media after Man United's 3-0 defeat by Liverpool on Sunday.

Garnacho, 20, established himself as a first team regular at Old Trafford last season but has so far been eased into action this time around following his exploits at the Copa America with Argentina over the summer.

The winger made his first start of the campaign against the Reds at the weekend, but struggled to impact the game, before he was replaced by Amad Diallo midway through the second half.

And, following the match, one supporter released a video mocking the Argentine, with the caption 'Alejandro Garnacho - season so far'.

Within the two minute 17 second video, a series of mistakes that Garnacho had made this season were clipped up, ranging from the 20-year-old giving the ball away to him being tackled, while the winger's frustrations were also shown.

This infuriated the Argentine, who replied in a now-deleted tweet: 'Wasting your time making clips for me - your life so far', accompanied by a laughing and a fire emoji.

The individual who shared the video then retorted back: 'Focus on your first touch and dribbling you b*m.

'If you weren't so bad I wouldn't have any footage to post.'

Despite the criticism from the social media account, Garnacho has already added one assist to his name so far this season after he set up Joshua Zirkzee's winner against Fulham on the opening weekend.

He also scored against Brighton during United's 2-1 defeat but was unfortunate to see the effort disallowed when it was ruled it had hit Zirkzee - who was in an offside position - before crossing the line.

Since making his debut in April 2022, Garnacho has scored 16 goals and added 10 assists in 90 games for the Red Devils.

The 20-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in 2022-23, before he developed into a regular starter last season.

Meanwhile, United and Erik ten Hag have come under heavy criticism since Sunday's defeat to arch-rivals Liverpool, but the Dutchman defended his position after the game.

'So this is another one,' he said. 'We have to build them in the team and it will take time. So it's not like I'm Harry Potter and that is what you have to acknowledge.'

In his post-match interview with Sky Sports, Ten Hag did admit Liverpool were the better side and claimed his team were responsible for their own downfall.

Despite the heavy defeat, United boss Erik ten Hag defended his side following the game

He said: 'We made mistakes, and they were very clinical in finishing, and they did very well.

'If I see all the chances we conceded, I don't think that's what happened. I think we make mistakes.

'All the three goals are mistakes from from us, individual errors, maybe about the last one you can debate, where is our double six, but all the others, I think Liverpool, how they took over, the turnover and how they finished was so good. And I saw the xG, it wasn't that high.

'It's clear they deserve it Liverpool, and we have to be humble. We have to take this and improve our game.'
