Ready to upgrade your PlayStation 5? You can snap up a slimmer, more svelte version of the console right now thanks to a deal from Amazon's Prime Day sales that's still available now that the event has ended. You can save $50 off both the disc-based and digital-only consoles if you zip on over to the retailer right now. The digital-only model is currently down to $400, with the disc drive-equipped version now down to $449. If you head there to buy one and you see it's out of stock, however, don't panic (watch out for "Buy used" next to the price and avoid those). Stock seems to be fluid and can change at any minute. Swoop in and scoop up your savings and don't be afraid to keep checking back to get your PS5 before this deal comes to an end.

These deals are well worth taking advantage of if you want to access next-gen games like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Demon's Souls and many more. Just note that these prices are exclusively available to Prime members.

Hey, did you know? CNET Deals texts are free, easy and save you money.

"I'm extremely impressed with the entire PS5 package," CNET's Dan Ackerman wrote in his review of the original 2020 model. "The design is bold. The new controller is a big step forward, both in ergonomics and features, and the addition of the new built-in controller mic (and sold-separately new HD webcam) will no doubt send many new streamers to Twitch and other platforms to show off."

Aside from the slimmer design, the only noticeable difference under the hood is that the new model has 1TB of storage instead of 825GB. The disc drive can also be removed. If you're a basketball fan, a PS5 digital edition bundle with NBA 2K25 has similarly dropped in price, from $500 to $450. A great excuse to treat yourself, as we're unsure if the holiday sales will beat this.
