Andreas Georgson joins Manchester United's coaching staff

Manchester United have made another addition to their coaching staff, bringing in Andreas Georgson from Norwegian club Lillestrom.

Speaking to the media in Los Angeles, manager Erik ten Hag said the 42-year-old coach will specialise in set-plays and individual development.

United have already brought in Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake as Ten Hag’s assistants this summer and appointed Jelle ten Rouwelaar as goalkeeper coach, as well as moving Darren Fletcher from technical director to first-team coach to work alongside Steve McClaren.

Like Hake, who was manager of Go Ahead Eagles, and Van Nistelrooy, who has managerial experience at PSV Eindhoven, Georgson was head coach at Lillestrom.

He also worked as caretaker boss of Malmo in his native Sweden, and has extensive coaching experience in England at Brentford, Arsenal and Southampton.

Ten Hag said: ‘So when we assessed, we did a refuel of the staff, we did some profiling, what we want to fill in.

'What he will do is work in areas as individual development, winning culture and the set-piece area. That is his job and we are very pleased to have him in our team and look forward to having him here.’
