Arsenal 'respond to Real Madrid's interest in William Saliba'

Arsenal defender William Saliba is reportedly wanted by Real Madrid but the Spanish side may find it difficult to strike a deal.

French outlet Le10Sport recently claimed that Saliba had been identified as Madrid's top transfer target for next summer.

Saliba is under contract at the Emirates Stadium until June 2027, having penned an extension last year.

Arsenal are therefore in a strong position to deal with any unwanted interest in their star centre back - who featured in all 38 of their Premier League games last season.

According to The Express, the Gunners are unconcerned by news of Madrid's interest in Saliba.

French central defender William Saliba, 23, is under contract with Arsenal until June 2027

The London club's stance is said to be firmly that he is not for sale and that any offers will be rebuffed.

Saliba signed for Arsenal from Saint-Etienne in 2019 when he was only 18.

He spent the next three seasons back in France as he was loaned back to Saint-Etienne, then to Nice and finally to Marseille.

The 23-year-old has since made 92 first-team appearances for Arsenal, forming a formidable partnership with Gabriel.

Arsenal boasted the best defensive record in the Premier League last season, when they kept 18 clean sheets and conceded only 29 goals.
