Lunar Lake proves that Intel can design a chip but cannot necessarily manufacture it.

If you're in the market for a premium Windows laptop, and don't mind (or even have a preference for) Intel x86-based computing architecture and its related app compatibilities, then the Asus Zenbook S 14 is absolutely worthy of consideration.

The larger question remains: Does this device stand up against a Snapdragon X Elite laptop like the Surface Laptop 7th Edition? I’d say yes. That’s despite the fact that cheaper configurations aren’t being offered at the moment, and I have a few gripes with the design, such as the size of the palm rests or the overly loud mechanical trackpad.

For all intents and purposes, the Asus Zenbook S 14 is a good laptop with a gorgeous design, mouthwatering OLED panel and top notch ergonomics. But Intel is the problem here — Lunar Lake is heading in the right direction in terms of battery life, but in a Snapdragon X Elite world, it falls just shy.

The Asus Zenbook S14, with Intel's "Lunar Lake" processor, has better battery life than the previous generation of Intel chips, packed into a beautiful design. But its multi-core performance is weak, and the laptop has a lackluster webcam.

The new Asus Zenbook S 14 is one of the best 14-inch allrounders on the market. The new Intel Lunar Lake processor is especially impressive when it comes to its GPU performance and enables much quieter fans. Its runtimes are great, its OLED display features a familiarly good quality and you'll likely search in vain for true weaknesses.
