Aubameyang 'tells Arsenal star to LEAVE the club for Marseille'

Aubameyang, who is a former Gunners captain, spent last season with the French side before moving to Saudi Arabia, where he has joined up with Al Qadsiah.

He played for Arsenal between 2018 and 2022, scoring 92 goals before departing to Barcelona after his stock dropped on the back of a falling out with manager Mikel Arteta.

Now, according to Sam Dean of The Telegraph, the 35-year-old is trying to convince one of his former team-mates to make the move across the channel and leave the north London club.

It is forward Eddie Nketiah who the 35-year-old is reportedly telling to move, with the England man far down the pecking order at the Emirates and potentially set for a move away.

Marseille have already completed the signing of Mason Greenwood from Manchester United and could be set for an all-English attack should they move for Nketiah.

Greenwood could be joined in Marseille by Nketiah - who started just 10 Premier League games for Arsenal last season.

Marseille would like Nketiah and Greenwood to play alongside each other in a new-look forward line, with last season's leading scorer Aubameyang moving on this summer.

Ex-Arsenal star Aubameyang delivered 17 goals and eight assists in 34 Ligue 1 appearances last season.

Nketiah has scored some big goals for Arsenal over the past two seasons - most notably a brace in a 3-2 win over Man United in January 2023.

He also netted a hat-trick in a 5-0 demolition of Sheffield United last season.

But the 25-year-old is behind Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz and possibly even Leandro Trossard on Mikel Arteta's list of candidates to operate as Arsenal's central striker.

Marseille reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League last season, where they lost to eventual champions Atalanta.

But Marseille finished eighth in Ligue 1 and therefore did not qualify for another European campaign.
