Barcelona 'can NOT register Dani Olmo after completing £51m deal'

Barcelona face difficulties in registering their new player, Dani Olmo, as the Catalan club continue having financial issues.

The Spain's squad European Championship 2024 winner was unveiled as a Blaugrana player last Friday, after Sporting Director Deco travelled to Leipzig in order to reach an agreement with both Olmo and his club.

His transfer from the Red Bulls was amounted to approximately £51million, with a six-year contract and a release clause of reportedly £427m (€500m).

However, as reported by Cadena SER, Barcelona are still unable to register the Spaniard, just five days before his potential La Liga debut against Valencia.

The reports come after the Catalans have announced their new partnership with the club's hospitality provider Aramark, a deal that reportedly brought the club around £34m (€40m) (£34m). However, it appears that they may need to secure additional financial support, and a new agreement with Nike can help facilitate the player's registration.

Dani Olmo still cannot be registered by his new club Barcelona who face a financial crisis

Cadena SER reports that Blaugrana are currently unable to register some of their players who are already in the squad.

This could include players who have returned from loan spells, such as Ansu Fati, Clement Lenglet, or Eric Garcia.

Dani Olmo will be forced to watch Saturday's game from the sidelines if the club can't register the player in time.

This is not the first time this has happened - in 2022 the French defender Jules Kounde missed several LaLiga games due to the same reason.

Similar to Kounde's situation, the club would need to make some exits in order to solve their current economic problems.

The Spaniard, 26, spent seven years in Barcelona's youth teams from 2007 to 2014, before moving to Dinamo Zagreb.

In 2020, he joined RB Leipzig and has been a significant target for the Catalans.

Olmo is expected to feature in Monday's friendly match against Monaco in the traditional yearly game for the Catalans, known as the 'Joan Gamper Trophy'.

The Spaniard has re-joined the squad for training but has not yet commented on a potential transfer to Barcelona.
