In the upcoming 2024 NFL draft, ESPN's Field Yates has projected the Cleveland Browns to select Trey Benson, a running back from Florida State, with the 54th overall pick. This move would make Benson the first running back taken off the board.

Benson is an exceptional athlete with impressive speed and agility. His 4.39 40-yard dash time is indicative of his ability to make quick bursts and elude defenders. Additionally, Benson displays a strong work ethic and a knack for breaking tackles. He also possesses good pass-catching skills, making him a versatile threat in the offense.

While the Browns' starting running back, Nick Chubb, is currently nursing a leg injury, the team has taken steps in the offseason to bolster their running back depth. Nyheim Hines, a proven pass-catcher, has been brought in to provide support in the return game and the backfield. D'onta Foreman, a power runner, is also capable of handling early-down carries.

In addition to these free agent acquisitions, the Browns still have Jerome Ford, who started at running back last year, and Pierre Strong on the roster. This depth means that when Chubb returns, the Browns will have five running backs worthy of a roster spot, although they typically keep only four.

Yates' projection of Benson to the Browns is a bit surprising given their depth at the position. However, Benson's combination of speed, elusiveness, and pass-catching ability make him a valuable asset to any offense. If the Browns do indeed select Benson, he could be a valuable contributor in both the running and passing game.
