Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Gets Nuketown Multiplayer Map and Infected Mode Ahead of Season 01

Fans of the classic Call of Duty: Black Ops map Nuketown, set on a small Nevada nuclear testing site, will get to play a graphically revamped version in Black Ops 6 starting Nov. 1.

Activision and the Black Ops 6 studio Treyarch announced that the multiplayer map, which was inspired by a scene in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and which always ends with a nuclear blast, is part of its week-after-release content drops. A video trailer is out for the map showing off the improved visuals (and the end-of-match blast). The map has also been featured before in Call of Duty: Online and Call of Duty: Mobile.

The other big drop, which is already available. is Infected mode. In it, one player is randomly assigned as infected and must eliminate other players and bring them to their side. A big change to that mode from previous games, the studio says, is that it features "Omnimovement," which allows players to dive and run in all directions.

Nuketown, a map from Call of Duty: Black Ops, is returning with new visuals as a free multiplayer map for players of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The map, which takes place on a nuclear test site in Nevada, was originally inspired by a scene from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Black Ops 6, announced back in May, was released on Oct. 25 and takes place in 1991, following a rogue group of operatives tracking down a covert force called Pantheon. It's available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, and is also part of Microsoft's Game Pass service.

In its post about Nuketown and Infected mode, Activision also teased Season 01, the battle pass out on Nov. 14. It will include new multiplayer maps and modes, a new in-season Zombies map and improvements to Call of Duty: Warzone, the battle royale mode. Those improvements include Omnimovement and new weapons and loadout features, according to the post. Activitsion says more Season 01 news will be available at its Call of Duty blog.
