Celonis sustainability initiatives aim to help businesses - SiliconANGLE

Sustainability has become a core business focus, with companies striving to meet regulations, satisfy consumer demand and reduce their environmental impact. Celonis sustainability initiatives are among examples of what has quickly become company priorities.

To get these Celonis sustainability initiatives in line, the company seeks to use process intelligence specifically to be sustainable. The company doesn’t have a physical supply chain, according to Janina Bauer (pictured), global head of sustainability at Celonis SE.

“There is challenges, but we also know that we can spend a bit of more time on creating a bigger impact,” Bauer said. “That’s what we solve and where we build solutions together with our customers and partners to make supply chains more sustainable and to help them use process intelligence to decarbonize faster, and with more fun.”

Bauer spoke with theCUBE Research’s Rob Strechay and Savannah Peterson at Celosphere 24, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed Celonis sustainability initiatives and the role of process intelligence in decarbonizing supply chains. (* Disclosure below.)

Key points around Celonis’ sustainability initiatives

Companies need to do three fundamental things to be successful and sustainable, according to Bauer. The first is that they need to comply and report.

“They need to unify data across their business,” she said. “Now, the beauty is sustainability metrics have always been cross-functional, cross-processes, cross-departments.”

The second piece is that once companies have the data, they have to set realistic goals, according to Bauer. They need to understand how they’re doing in sustainability and business.

“Otherwise, what’s the point?” she said.

Finally, the last part is taking action. That means orchestrating across teams and departments while making decisions that are both good for the business and the planet.

“Because of that cross-functional nature … sustainability metrics, process intelligence and the Celonis platform can uniquely help with that,” Bauer said. “We can basically unify the sustainability data across the business, and then we can link that data to the people in the business and the various departments. And we can provide that single source of truth for both business performance and sustainability performance at the same time.”
