WTF?! A video game collector from Saudi Arabia has earned a Guinness World Record for having the most game consoles connected to a single television. Ibrahim Al-Nasser managed to connect 444 different machines to his set utilizing a series of switches and converters. Heck, I remember being frustrated having to swap out cables as a kid and I only had a few consoles.
Al-Nasser ran into the same issue, only on a much, much larger scale. His elaborate solution involves more than 30 RCA switchers and over a dozen HDMI switchers to connect consoles spanning more than four decades.
Keeping track of what console is plugged in where would be next to impossible without a cheat sheet, so he created a spreadsheet that tells him exactly what switchers to activate to access a specific console.
Al-Nasser invested loads of time to get the wiring just right, and it shows. There are hardly any cables visible, resulting in a museum-quality presentation that rivals even the best video game rooms.
The collection includes nearly every major console you can think of, and hundreds of other obscure systems you have likely never even heard of. All of the heavy hitters are there, including modern machines like the PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and the Steam Deck, as well as retro favorites such as the original PlayStation, the Nintendo 64 (with Disk Drive), and the Sega Dreamcast, among others.
As for Al-Nasser's all-time favorite console, that would be the venerable Sega Genesis. Released as the Mega Drive in Japan in 1988 before finding its way to North America a year later as the Genesis, this 16-bit console went toe to toe with the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and put up one heck of a fight. Sega's offering was home to some mighty impressive titles including Disney's Aladdin and entries in the Mortal Kombat and Sonic the Hedgehog series.
