The England international was well received by the Atletico Madrid fanbase on Sunday

'Our little family on our next adventure together.

'Home isn't a place, It's a feeling'

'Thank you for all the lovely messages of love and support.

'We are so excited to live in Spain and be part of Atletico Madrid.'

Gallagher had been given a warm welcome on his debut on Sunday, when he was brought on with Atletico leading 2-0 at home.

Home fans were heard chanting Gallagher's name from the stands having been impressed by his showing in the final 32 minutes of the opening day victory.

'Gallagher came on with a lot of energy,' Simeone said.

'That's what we'll get from him. He needs a bit of time to get used to opponents and to his team-mates.

With his enthusiasm and passion, we have to help him so that adrenaline is positive for the team.'

The midfielder had been training on his own at Chelsea after being exiled for the first-team set-up ahead of the transfer.

Gallagher had agreed personal terms with the Spanish club weeks ago, but the deal fell into limbo after Chelsea ended their pursuit of Samu Omorodion, who later joined Porto.

Atletico revived the Gallagher deal, with the Chelsea academy product leaving the club last week.

Gallagher said his 'dreams came true' at Chelsea in a farewell message to the club last week

Gallagher, who captained Chelsea several times last season, had maintained his 'dreams came true' at the club despite being forced out by the Blues this summer.

'To everyone at Chelsea, thank you for making my dreams come true,' Gallagher said last week. 'It’s been an absolute honor every time I put on the shirt, and it was a dream come true to captain the team on many occasions. I loved every moment.

'These memories will last forever. I appreciate all the love and support from the fans. Hearing the chant of my name at the Bridge is a special feeling, and the banner you displayed meant the world to me.

'Thank you for everything. I wish the club all the best for the future, and I hope to see you all soon at Stamford Bridge!'
