DataDome introduces free tool ‘Discover’ for comprehensive domain security scanning

Software-as-a-service bot protection startup DataDome SAS today announced “Discover,” a new free tool designed to eliminate security blind spots.

Debuting and being demoed at the Black Hat USA 2024 conference starting Saturday in Las Vegas, Discover has been designed to allow customers to scan their domains and subdomains comprehensively in a single click to receive a quick, detailed inventory of protected, unprotected and previously unknown domains.

The idea is to give enterprises a better understanding of their attack surface against sophisticated bots and fraudsters and hence be able to protect them better. Discover automatically provides a clear view of protection coverage and any gaps so that no domain is overlooked and customer data, personally identifiable information, intellectual property and revenue are safeguarded against costly and damaging attacks. “Unfortunately for fraudsters, our next-level security has a next level: Discover helps enterprises reduce blind spots in their attack surface,” said Aurelie Guerrieri, chief marketing officer at DataDome.

DataDome will allow attendees at BlackHat to test their sites to learn which automated threats bypass current defenses using DataDome’s bot tester tool, providing real-time evaluations. Attendees can also see DataDome in action through live demos of its cyber fraud platform.

The company was previously in the news in December when it launched Device Check, an invisible CAPTCHA alternative designed to keep bots at bay and human users secure. Device Check validates device-specific signals with proofs of work without prompting any visible interaction with users.

DataDome is a venture capital-backed startup, having last raised $42 million in new funding in March 2023. Investors in the company include InfraVia Growth Management SAS, Elephant Venture Capital GmbH and ISAI Gestion SAS.
