David Beckham makes bold claim about USMNT's World Cup chances

David Beckham holds the belief that the United States men's national team will eventually, one day, win the World Cup.

He also believes that his acquisition of Lionel Messi to Inter Miami will help inspire younger generations in order to achieve that goal.

Speaking on an episode of First We Feast's 'Hot Ones', Beckham shared with host Sean Evans that he believes acquiring Messi will help the USMNT towards that ultimate goal.

'There's only so far you can go on the business talk and contract talks. I think player to player, I think it makes a huge difference. And I came at it as a player that had obviously moved from Real Madrid to the LA Galaxy.

'It's a gift in the sense of, I want to inspire the next generation of young kids that are playing in this country, because at some point, the US will win the World Cup. At some point.

'It needs moments like this where you bring someone of Leo's magnitude. He's good on the field, he's good off the field, he's the perfect professional.

'If you bring someone like that, then all of these young kids that are watching throughout America, going to watch him in their stadiums, in their city, get inspired. That's really what we wanted to do.'

At the present moment, the United States men's national team is at something of a crossroads.

Over the summer, they crashed out of the Copa America in the group stage after a win over Bolivia was followed up with a stunning loss to Panama and, ultimately, another defeat to Uruguay.

That embarrassment led the USMNT to firing coach Gregg Berhalter and began an international search for its next coach before hosting a majority of games at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Multiple sources have reported that the next manager of the team will be Mauricio Pochettino, however no official announcement has been made or planned.

The United States will be playing its next game in Kansas City when they take on cross-border rivals Canada in a friendly.
