David Moyes aims dig at Julen Lopetegui after Chelsea nightmare

David Moyes has given a brutal assessment of West Ham's performance after they slipped to a 3-0 loss to Chelsea, aiming a subtle dig at Julen Lopetegui.

The Blues maintained their perfect away record in this season's Premier League after a quickfire brace from an in-form Nicolas Jackson and a goal from Cole Palmer saw them put the game beyond the home side within 47 minutes.

West Ham might have had a penalty at 2-0 when Wesley Fofana grabbed hold of Crysencio Summerville inside the 18-yard box just before the half-hour mark but a VAR review decided the alleged foul had only been 'fleeting'.

But the Hammers can have no complaints about the scoreline after a lacklustre display left them on just four points from their first five matches.

Now former boss Moyes has slammed his successor in the London Stadium hotseat in a post-match discussion on beIN Sports

He said: 'I thought it was a poor performance and they'll be disappointed, because we had a pretty good record against Chelsea at the London Stadium over the years.

'We've had difficulties at Stamford Bridge but at home we've been pretty good against them.'

After the match, captain Jarrod Bowen echoed his former manager's sentiments and admitted they showed Enzo Maresca's side 'too much respect'.

The England forward: 'We were never in the game which is an awful thing to say.

'The goals that they scored were easy on our part - two gifts.

'You have to be switched on in every moment. On the pitch it felt quite easy to play through [us], a disappointing day all-round.

'Of course, as a player and captain you have to lead and rally everyone together. We gave them too much respect in the end.

'Disappointing day, we accept the defeat. The game is done and we put it to bed and see what we can improve on.

'Games are coming thick and fast to put it right. We still have a lot of games to go and that is a positive for us.'

Defeat leaves Lopetegui under pressure just a handful of matches into the season after the Spaniard took over from Moyes over the summer.

The new boss was backed in the transfer window as West Ham brought in Max Kilman from Wolves for £40m, Crysencio Summerville from Leeds for £25m and Niclas Füllkrug from Borussia Dortmund for £27m.
