Dejan Kulusevski reveals advice Cristiano Ronaldo once gave him

Dejan Kulusevski has disclosed the advice he was given by Cristiano Ronaldo while at Juventus which has taken him four years to understand.

Kulusevski played alongside Ronaldo for the Old Lady in the 2020-21 season before the latter made his blockbuster return to Manchester United.

The Swede joined the Italian giants at just 20 years of age and was taken under the wing by Ronaldo, who was in his third season at the club.

While both at the club, Ronaldo gave Kulusevski seven words of advice that the midfielder remembers to this day.

'I'm starting to get to know my body, said Kulusevski. 'When I was younger, I didn't understand when Ronaldo told me: 'You will get to know your body'. Because I didn't know my body then.

Kulusevski has been in a rich vain of form for Tottenham of late as he settles into a new role

'But now I'm starting to understand my strengths and weaknesses, how I can improve. So I feel like everything is getting easier.

'I know how to train the day before a match, two days before a match, what to do when I'm tired, and so on. All the little details that in the end make a big difference.'

Now into his fourth season at Tottenham, Kulusevski has impressed in his new role under Ange Postecoglou this season.

Postecoglou has moved the 24-year-old from his usual spot on the right wing to a more central role in the midfield.

Kulusevski's performance in a 3-0 away win at Manchester United, in which he scored, showcased his progress and maturity under the Australian boss.

And the Swede's recent success could be partly down to his renewed understanding of the advice Ronaldo once gave him.

'To not be satisfied with being good, but to be the best every day,' he added. 'That's the only thing that matters, as hard as it is to try to be the best.

'I think that you learn over time, that you begin to understand much more about how the world and the brain work. You can't be 17 and know everything.'

Despite giving out advice to youngsters Ronaldo does not want to become a coach in the future

Despite Ronaldo sharing his wisdom with youth players throughout his career, last month he revealed that he has no intention of becoming a coach.

'For me, it will be difficult one day to be a coach, because I don't have passion for this generation,' said Ronaldo on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast.

'It's difficult, especially in football, because they don't take advice by our experience. They think they know everything, they think the phones will give you good education, TikTok, Instagram.

'I have other things to worry about, another chapter of my life that is a business part that I'm excited about.

'It will be a challenge to me and learn other areas I don't know, be more involved in my business and I think will be good.'
