Dortmund star's girlfriend deletes IG post after embarrassing error

The model girlfriend of Borussia Dortmund star Yan Couto was forced to swiftly delete her Instagram post after making an embarrassing error that was spotted by fans.

Dortmund cruised to a 3-0 win against Club Brugge on Wednesday night as last year's finalists made the perfect start to their Champions League campaign.

Couto, 22, came off the bench in the 87th minute, and his partner, Mariana David, wanted to show her support for him.

She posted a screenshot that appeared to be from the game on her Instagram alongside the caption: 'Even from afar, I'm always keeping my fingers crossed for you.'

Following the game, Couto reposted the screenshot and replied: 'I love you'.

Mariana David wanted to show support for her boyfriend Yan Couto, but posted a screenshot of a video game on her Instagram. Couto did not spot the error, but fans did

However, fans quickly spotted that the snapshot was actually from a video game rather than the real match.

A streamer had replayed the match on YouTube, and David had been fooled into reposting a screenshot.

After fans pointed out her mistake, David hastily deleted her Instagram post so that it was no longer visible for her 107,000 followers on the platform.

David tends to be active on Instagram, where she lists herself in her bio as a dentist and content creator.

She is also a model, and finished inside the top 10 at the Miss Grand Brazil beauty pageant in 2020.

She now dates Couto, who joined Dortmund on loan from Manchester City last month. The German club have an option to buy Couto permanently at the end of the season.

The Brazilian international has also had loan spells at Girona and Braga in recent seasons, and has never played for City since joining the club four years ago.

He has made three appearances for Dortmund this term, but is still waiting for his first start.
