The 43-year-old said: 'On the chicken video, I just slapped the chicken, I didn't lick it – look at the video, I didn't lick the chicken!

Evra said he was 'that crazy at the time' but that he was making a joke about Thanksgiving

'When I did that video, it was Thanksgiving in America, but I don't care about Thanksgiving, so I was making a joke about it, you know, 'When you eat your chicken, you fall in love with it.' It was sexual.

'It was crazy because it also affected my son because at school, they were like, 'Your dad eats raw chicken,' or whatever. So, of course I regret that video, but in that moment, I was that crazy.

'I remember, I was in Switzerland, and there was a lady with her husband, and she looked at me like, 'I know you!' And her husband says, 'Of course you know him, it's Patrice Evra.' And she said, 'No, I've seen him somewhere… that guy was licking a chicken!

'After that, I also did [a video] for the vegans. I was eating flowers and trees, so everyone was happy.'

The video starts with Evra provocatively kissing and stroking the raw chicken.

He then licks his lips, kisses the chicken on the leg before sprinkling salt on it in his best impression of chef Salt Bae.

Evra bit down on the chicken's breast before shouting his catchphrase: 'I love this game'

Evra admitted that he was recognised on the street for the bizarre video and that his son was told 'your dad eats raw chicken'

Evra then gives the raw bird a slap on it's 'behind' and for about eight seconds is seen picking up the chicken by its legs and smacking it numerous times.
