Ex-Chelsea chief delivers message to fans after Tuchel appointment

Until then, interim boss Lee Carsley will remain in charge, overseeing the final two matches of the calendar year in November, with both fixtures once again Nations League matches.

Tuchel will then take the reins, earning £6million-a-year on an 18-month contract after a near-three-month hunt for Gareth Southgate's replacement following his resignation after Euro 2024.

The new England manager's former boss Granovskaia, meanwhile, has taken to social media to wish him the best and deliver a message of encouragement to supporters.

'Thomas knows trophies,' she posted on her Instagram account, accompanied by a photo of herself and the German with the Champions League trophy.

'Congratulations TT and [England flag emoji]. World Cup 2026 just got more exciting!'

Granovskaia first became involved with Chelsea in 2010, initially assisting in transfers and contractual dealings and joining the board in 2013.

She sometimes clashed with managers, who had their own ideas of players they were keen to bring in, but maintained a solid working relationship with Tuchel throughout his 18-month stay at the Blues.

She was also responsible for breaking the £60million-a-year deal with Nike, and was highly rated at the club and in the football world until she left the club upon the change of ownership.

Tuchel left in September 2022, a few months after Granovskaia.

The German, meanwhile, who most-recently worked in his homeland with Bayern Munich, pledged his loyalty to England in his first press conference as boss at Wembley.

'I'm sorry, I just have a German passport,' he said. 'But all of these supporters can feel my passion for the English Premier League, how I love to work here, how I love to live here.
