Ex-Leicester star Knockaert launches rant at 'unstable' Watford fans

Former Leicester winger Anthony Knockaert has hit out at Watford fans in a furious rant on social media.

Knockaert was livid after constantly being reminded of his penalty miss against Watford in the dramatic 2013 Championship play-off semi-final.

The sides were level at 2-2 on aggregate when Knockaert stepped up to take a penalty, which was saved by Watford goalkeeper Manuel Almunia.

In one of the most memorable footballing moments of recent years Watford then went down the other end of the pitch, with Jonathan Hogg setting up Troy Deeney, who scored a dramatic winner.

Knockaert has now responded to Watford fans who have frequently messaged him as he reminded them that they were beaten by Crystal Palace in the play-off final.

A livid Knockaert branded Watford fans 'clowns' and also described the club as 'unstable'

He also called Watford fans 'clowns' and branded the club 'unstable' due to their tendency to frequently change managers. He also told Watford fans to 'leave me alone'.

Knockaert wrote on his Instagram story: 'Ok just to make it clear... You guys keep writing 'Here's Hogg' whatever!

'Listen your clowns. Without me you would of never experienced a playoff final in Wembley that you lost... Kevin Phillips you remember???

'You all that stupid that you are even writing this like you made it..

'How to describe Watford Football Club??? Unstable club that has 6 different manager per season...

'So please enjoy your life and leave me alone for once...'

Fans were quick to react to Knockaert's post, with one user writing: 'Anthony Knockaert’s lost his head'.

Meanwhile, another wrote: 'Anthony Knockaert has had it with Watford fans bringing up his penalty miss from 11 years ago…'.

One Watford fan took great delight in Knockaert's response as they wrote: 'Anthony Knockaert's little meltdown here is even sweeter because you just know that every time we chanted and sang at him it absolutely RATTLED him'.

One user stated: 'I don't know why it took Knockaert 11 years to bite back but fair play it was worth it'.

Knockaert, who played for Leicester between 2012 and 2015, also had spells in English football with Brighton, Fulham, Nottingham Forest and Huddersfield.

He announced his retirement from professional football last month.
