Microsoft announced a handful of upcoming games, as well as DLC for Alan Wake 2, at its Xbox Partner Preview on Thursday. A few of those games will arrive on Game Pass the same day they're released next year, including Remedy Entertainment's first co-op shooter, FBC: Firebreak.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate -- a CNET Editors' Choice award pick -- offers hundreds of games you can play on your Xbox Series X, Series S, Xbox One, and PC or mobile device for $20 a month. A subscription gets you access to a large library of games, with new titles like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 added every month, plus other benefits, such as online multiplayer and deals on non-Game Pass titles.
Here are the games Microsoft announced will land on Game Pass on Day 1 in 2025.
Don't call this a sequel or a DLC to Remedy's award-winning game Control, despite sharing a universe with that popular game.
"It's not designed to be some kind of lesser, bite-sized Control," Remedy's game director Mike Kayatta told Xbox Wire. "FBC: Firebreak is its own, fully formed thing."
FBC: Firebreak is also a new thing for Remedy, which is known for its single-player games. This game, on the other hand, is a three-person co-op where you and your friends take out enemies who are roaming the halls of the Federal Bureau of Control. You use weird items imbued with supernatural abilities against odd enemies in even stranger environments. But for your team, it's just another day at the office.
Subnautica 2 (early access)
Return to the mysterious depths of the ocean in the sequel to the underwater survival-crafting game. This time, you can go alone or with up to four friends in multiplayer co-op. You'll explore lush new environments filled with alien creatures. But be careful: Not every creature in the murky waters is friendly.
Eternal Strands
This action-RPG comes from a team of developers who've worked on popular series like Dragon Age and Assassin's Creed. This game has a unique magic system that allows you to combine spells or localize their area of damage -- like freezing the wings of a dragon so it can't fly. It's also filled with climbable bosses reminiscent of Shadow of the Colossus, and a crafting system to help you fine-tune your play style.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
Travel to the tumultuous late Ming Dynasty in this Soulslike action-RPG. Warring factions are rampaging across the land, and a mysterious illness has brought forth monstrous creatures that wreak further havoc. As you search for a way to bring peace, you'll fight grotesque abominations, explore the land and uncover the truth of the Wuchang's curse.
Wheel World
If you want to take a nice relaxing bike ride, this game is for you. Previously known as Ghost Bike, this game puts you behind the handlebars of one of the last ghost bikes around. These bikes can traverse between the lands of the living and the dead. You can explore these lands at your leisure while you race other riders and upgrade your ride with treasures you find along the way.
