FIFA have signed a major sponsorship deal with a USA firm for the first time since the Department of Justice gave world football’s governing body a clean bill of health.
Bank of America, one of the biggest financial institutions on the planet, on Thursday signed a deal with FIFA that takes them to World Cup 2026 in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
FIFA also recently announced a multi-million pound commercial partnership with Saudi Arabia oil firm Aramco.
The latest sponsorship agreement with Bank of America incorporates the Club World Cup in the USA next summer as well as the World Cup the following year.

FIFA have previously struggled to attract new US investment into their global football projects because of the reputational damage caused to the organisation following the arrests of FIFA hierarchy under previous president Sepp Blatter.
The Department of Justice eventually handed back more than $200m to FIFA as part of the clean up operation following the corruption scandal that engulfed the governing body in 2016.
But the Bank of America deal, the first time a financial institution has partnered with FIFA in recent history, is expected to pave the way to further sponsorship deals with leading US firms in the future.
