Flow Brings World Tour Builder Series to Singapore Following Crescendo Upgrade

Layer-1 blockchain Flow is bringing its Flow World Tour builder series to Singapore later this month.

Kicking off on September 19, the Flow World Tour invites blockchain builders to develop the next “killer app” across four categories: decentralized finance (DeFi), Sports, Social, and Gaming.

“As major avenues of consumer traction, these four sectors present unparalleled opportunities for Web3 disruption,” a spokesperson for Flow said in a statement shared with Decrypt.

The event series will run alongside the Token2049 conference in Singapore, with developers invited to explore positioning and use cases centered around Consumer DeFi across onsite and virtual workshops, hackathons, and networking events at ETH Global Hackathon where they can engage with leading experts.

Flow launches Crescendo upgrade

The Flow World Tour comes as the blockchain launches its Crescendo upgrade, the “most significant upgrade to the Flow network since genesis.” The mainnet upgrade includes full Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) equivalence for developers on Flow, meaning that any smart contract, protocol or tooling that works on the Ethereum mainnet will work on Flow.

“It makes all Flow applications fully interoperable with the wider Web3 ecosystem,” a Flow spokesperson said, adding that “it means builders on Flow will not have to compromise between a great user experience and access to Ethereum’s liquidity and infrastructure”

Flow has also launched the Flow Community Rewards platform, which introduces benefits to the Flow ecosystem across over 100 communities with exclusive offers and giveaways.

With benefits including exclusive offers, merchandise, giveaways, and opportunities to win partner-specific prizes, such as luxury items, vacation getaways, and exclusive digital collectibles, the program provides users incentives for exploring the Flow ecosystem, engaging with apps, or providing liquidity. It also offers perks to developers who contribute new applications and protocols to Flow.

Originally developed by NBA Top Shot developer Dapper Labs, Flow is an open-source proof of stake layer-1 blockchain built to support mainstream consumer applications, and counts among its partners brands such as the NFL, NBA, Disney, Mattel, Barbie, Hot Wheels and Ticketmaster, and crypto projects such as MetaMask, Alchemy, and Moonpay.
