Joshua Meyer, an avid outdoorsman and family man, faced a sudden and devastating illness that led to the loss of his legs and hands.

In early February, Meyer fell severely ill with symptoms of the flu. As his condition worsened, his wife rushed him to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with streptococcus pneumonia and sepsis. Despite aggressive medical treatment, Meyer's organs began to fail, and he was placed on life support.

After weeks of unconsciousness, Meyer's wife was presented with a grim choice: say goodbye or fight. She chose to fight, and Meyer miraculously survived. However, the cost was the amputation of his legs, soon to be followed by his hands.

Meyer is now facing a long road to recovery, but he remains optimistic thanks to the support of his family, friends, and the community. A GoFundMe campaign set up by his sister has raised over $100,000 to cover his medical expenses.

Meyer is determined to regain his independence through the use of prosthetics. He has chosen prosthetics over hand transplants due to the lower risk-reward ratio. While prosthetics are expensive, his family hopes they will allow him to return to his active lifestyle.

Meyer's recovery has been a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of community support. Despite the challenges he faces, he remains grateful for the outpouring of love and care he has received. He looks forward to being home with his family and treating his wife to a well-deserved vacation.
