Fulham table £25m bid for Crystal Palace's Joachim Andersen

Fulham's interest in Marc Guehi's central defensive partner Joachim Andersen complicates Newcastle's swoop for the defender.

The west London side have tabled a second offer, worth an initial £25million and an additional £5m in add-ons, for Denmark star Andersen, though sources insist the bid will not be enough to tempt Palace into selling.

Palace value Andersen, 28, at £40m. The defender played for Fulham on loan from Lyon in the 2020-21 season, before joining Palace on a permanent deal that summer.

Asked if Palace, who have already sold Michael Olise to Bayern Munich, would sell Guehi and Andersen this summer, Parish told the BBC: 'I can't imagine a situation where we would lose both of our centre-backs. We have got to sit and think about the right thing to do. If both of them are still here at the end of the window I wouldn't be surprised.'

The Eagles' form improved dramatically last season when Oliver Glasner took the reigns in February, and it is expected that the club will again look to kick on this term.

It is understood that the bid falls around £15m short of Palace's valuation

Palace chief Steve Parish (left) has admitted that it is unlikely his side will sell both Andersen and Marc Guehi this summer

Andersen and Guehi have been at the centre of the defensive structure at Palace for a number of years, with the latter moving to the club the same summer as his team-mate.

Towards the end of last season, Glasner adopted more of a back three approach, with Chris Richards often featuring in the team.

Tyrick Mitchell moved to left wing back, with January signing Daniel Munoz playing on the right.

It is expected that Palace will look to do more business should either defender depart before the end of the window.

Eddie Howe has made Guehi his preferred central defensive target ahead of the new season and is fully behind Newcastle’s move to sign one of England’s stars of Euro 2024.

However, there is an acceptance that the club need to sign a new central defender this summer with sources indicating the Magpies may consider other options if Palace continue their stance.

Parish, meanwhile, has told Newcastle to cough up 'superstar money' if they want to sign England international Guehi, who started all but one of the Three Lions' games in their run to the Euro 2024 final in the summer.

Guehi is of interest to Newcastle, though an agreement is yet to be reached between the clubs

A third offer comprising of £55m plus an additional £5m in add-ons has been made by the club

Mail Sport revealed on Monday that the Magpies had made a third offer, comprising of an initial £55m plus an additional £5m in add-ons, for the Palace central defender.

And speaking on Tuesday, Palace chairman Parish - who values Guehi at a minimum £65million - effectively publicly rejected Newcastle's latest package.

'If you want a superstar player, you've got to pay superstar money,' he told Sky Sports. 'This is a player we love a lot. If we start the season with him, we'll be a better team.

'We're nowhere near the point where we need to make a decision. We love having him at the club and we would love to keep him at the club. So if somebody wants to make that otherwise, they have got to make it really difficult for us. At the moment, that's not the situation we're in.'
