'I was on my own': Souness opens up on Everything I Know About Me

The former Scotland midfielder signed for Spurs aged 15, leaving behind his happy childhood in Edinburgh.

When he got to London with little money, he found only one figure looking out for him. That man was Pat Welton, a youth team coach - and he had plenty of other youngsters to keep an eye on.

New in a bustling city, Souness had to navigate those youth days by himself and carve out a path on his own.

'Maybe it was a good thing for me,' he said. 'No one was communicating anything to me about making yourself better. You were just left to your own devices.'

Graeme Souness has talked about how he was 'on his own' at Spurs as a youngster - and how that benefitted him - in the latest episode of Everything I Know About Me
