Jamie Carragher reveals how Kate Abdo 'put him back in his place'

Jamie Carragher has admitted he acted 'like a little child' after making an awkward joke about co-host Kate Abdo 'not being loyal' on live TV.

The incident occurred during CBS Sports' coverage of Arsenal's Champions League clash against Porto at the Emirates Stadium in March, with Carragher's attempted humour uncomfortably missing the mark.

Abdo subsequently addressed the incident live on television 24 hours later, delivering a brutal put-down to Carragher and now the Liverpool legend has lifted the lid on his side of the story.

Speaking to The Ringer, he said: 'We never ignore the elephants in the room. I was a little child. I was just getting a little smack and getting put back in place, and rightly so.'

In the show, the former Liverpool defender got Richards to don the shirt after the latter revealed he grew up supporting the Gunners.

The Liverpool legend had suggested Abdo was 'not loyal' to her partner during a live broadcast

But at the end of the shootout, it was Carragher's turn to wear the shirt after being asked to do so by Bukayo Saka in his post-match interview.

Carragher then suggested Henry and Abdo should be next to wear the Arsenal jersey on air, sparking a bizarre comment from the former Liverpool defender.

'You [Henry] can wear it next and for the last part [of the show] you [Abdo] have got to wear it,' he told his colleagues.

'No, I'm loyal,' Abdo swiftly replied, before adding 'to Manchester United thank you very much', when asked by Carragher whom she was loyal to.

'You're not loyal to Malik,' the former Liverpool defender fired back, referencing Abdo's boyfriend at the time, and now husband, Malik Scott.

In the same interview with The Ringer, Abdo also offered her thoughts on the situation as she said: 'I think the reason that we function well is because we needle each other.

Abdo looked shocked by the comment, while Thierry Henry (right) smiled awkwardly

Abdo also said 'those inappropriate conversations should be had in the locker room'

'That's like a sports team, right? I feel like those inappropriate conversations should be had in the locker room and kept in the locker room. You deal with them internally, and then you move on'.

Last month, Abdo tied the knot with her partner Scott in what seemed like a small and intimate wedding.

The pair took to Instagram to share several photos from their wedding day, thanking God for the 'gift of marriage' in their captions.

Abdo wore an elegant, off-the-shoulder white dress with a fitted bodice for the ceremony. While Scott wore a black patterned suit with no shirt underneath.

The pair opted for a close-knit celebration with the wedding setup radiating an intimate and romantic atmosphere.

Malik's children were present for the ceremony - with the happy couple posing for photos with the trainer's son and daughter after the nuptials.

Abdo and Scott have garnered public interest due to their relationship, particularly because of their respective high-profile careers in sports media and boxing

Abdo's career took off when she became a regular presenter on Sky Sports, focusing on European football and other major sporting events. But it was her fluency in Spanish, German, and French that made her stand out.

The 43-year-old presenter worked across global platforms, covering events like the Ballon d'Or, where she conducted interviews with elite athletes in multiple languages.
