Jonny Evans says Man United can benefit from Ten Hag's winning habit

The Red Devils endured a turbulent campaign last season, finishing eighth in the  table, their worst ever Premier League position.

However, they eventually secured silverware by winning the FA Cup as they beat City in the final at Wembley.

It marked Ten hag's second trophy as United manager having also won the Carabao Cup in his first season at the club.

And Evans says he and his team-mates can win more silverware if they adopt the same mentality as the Dutchman ahead of their Community Shield clash with Pep Guardiola's men.

Jonny Evans says Manchester United can benefit from adopting Erik ten Hag 's winning habit

'The manager has been able to do that [win trophies] since he came here, he's got a great record in the cup competitions and he speaks highly about the fact that he is a winner. We need that,' Evans told United's official site.

'Obviously, we've had a couple of lads going away with their countries in South America - Licha and Garnacho - so we've got winners in the squad and want to add to that.

'Winning trophies can only benefit you in terms of giving confidence to go on and win more.'

Last season's FA Cup triumph was Evans' seventh major honour with United having returned to the club last summer after eight years away.

And the 36-year-old, who signed a one year extension earlier this summer, remains hungry to add to his medal collection.

He said: 'I think the whole thing of coming back and winning a trophy with the club was incredible.

'I've been lucky but you always remember the last one, don't you? I think it will stick in the memory for a long time and, hopefully, we can get another one this year and then that's the last one to think about.

'You're always trying to look forward. We've already had meetings and you see what trophies are up for grabs this year. We've got the Europa League to contend with as well, obviously, and we're in all of them to win it.

'There's another chance in the Europa League, we're back in the cup competitions and in the league so there's a lot and we'll give it a good shot in all of them.'
