Jorginho reveals who speaks BEFORE Mikel Arteta at half-time

Jorginho has explained what happens at half-time during Arsenal matches and revealed one member of the team speaks before Mikel Arteta does.

Jorginho, 32, moved to the Gunners from Chelsea in January 2023 and has proven to be a reliable option for Arteta.

The Italian hasn't always been first choice, but he has still racked up 52 appearances for the club, while his leadership qualities have been on show throughout his time at the Emirates.

And, speaking on the Seaman Says podcast, Jorginho - who has been a Premier League runner-up in both of his seasons in north London - gave an insight into the inner sanctum of the dressing room on matchdays when half-time comes around.

'It’s a good moment, because as soon as we come in then Nico [Jover] comes to speak about set-pieces and stuff like that, and then Mikel comes in and speaks about what we need to do,' he said.

The Italy star revealed that one member of the group even speaks before Mikel Arteta does

Highly-rated set-piece coach Nicolas Jover is the first person to give the players instructions

'Then you see players talking to each other as well, especially in the units, you know.

'Like, for example, Big Gabi [Gabriel Magalhaes] with Saliba, speaking about something. Then Bukayo and Martin [Odegaard] speaking about something.

'You see the units trying to talk and make it better, or keep doing what they are doing if it’s working. So, I think we are in a good place.'

Jover is the Gunners' set piece coach, with the German having overseen an incredible run of success for Arteta's side in that department since he joined in 2021.

From the start of the 2021-22 campaign, Arsenal have scored 44 set piece goals, while last season they netted 20 from them as Jover's impact was hailed far-and-wide - and Jorginho's revelation just shows how important his role is viewed by Arteta.

Meanwhile, although he is just 32, Jorginho also explained that he has started to look at what life will be like after football.

And the Italian revealed exactly what he plans to do, with his aspirations having changed since he joined Arsenal.

'Because of how I am and how much I love the game, my friends back home, my family, since I was 18 or 19, they were always like "you're going to be a coach".

'And I was like "no way, I want to be involved in football, but no hope or chance I'll be a coach".

'Then I came to Arsenal and they asked me if you wanted to do badges and I said "no, I don't want to be a coach".

'After some encouragement I did them and in the first session I was saying "oh no why did I do this, now I'm in trouble", and I think I I'll go for it (a coaching career) now.'

Jorginho revealed he never planned to go into coaching, but said it is now his aim after football

The Italian explained how much satisfaction he has already felt from his short time in coaching

Jorginho continued: 'To be on the pitch, with the players, I fell in love with it. It was so satisfying, when you see things coming up and working out how you expected, it was so good.

'Being on the pitch, seeing the stuff there is different, but it's really good.'

Jorginho is set to return to action this weekend in the north London derby, with the Italian likely to start due to the unavailability of Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard and Mikel Merino through either injury or suspension.

The Gunners will be hoping to continue their unbeaten start to the season after two wins and a draw, before they begin their Champions League campaign against Atalanta on Thursday.
