Kai Havertz infuriates Chelsea fans after Champions League claim

Kai Havertz has riled up Chelsea fans with his comments after Arsenal's Champions League victory over PSG.

Havertz, 25, scored the opening goal in the Gunners' 2-0 win over the French giants on Tuesday, continuing his impressive start to the season.

The German has netted five times in nine games in all competitions as he goes from strength-to-strength in his second year at the Emirates after joining from Chelsea for £65million last summer.

While at Stamford Bridge, Havertz was part of the Blues side that won the Champions League in 2020-21.

Havertz wrote himself into folklore at Chelsea by scoring the winner in the final against Man City as Thomas Tuchel's side won 1-0.

Havertz claimed it would mean more to win the Champions League with Arsenal than Chelsea

The German was part of the Chelsea team who won Europe's elite club competition in 2021

However, speaking after the Gunners' victory on Tuesday, Havertz - who scored 32 goals in 139 games for the Blues - attracted the ire of Chelsea supporters when he was asked about Arsenal's progress in Europe's elite club competition.

'Winning the Champions League is a nice feeling,' he said. 'But it would be even nicer if I can do it with Arsenal!.

'It would mean a lot more.'

Several Chelsea fans were quick to hit back at the 25-year-old, as they took to social media to express their views.

One infuriated fan said: 'To score the second biggest goal in Chelsea history and be hated by all the fans should tell you just how bad a character Havertz is.'

Another added: 'I’ve never seen anyone as ungrateful as this guy.'

Other supporters piled in and were critical of Havertz expressing his views so publicly.

One said: 'He just about won it with us after nearly fluffing a big chance… and he thinks he can do it with Arsenal? Poor guy lmao,' before another chimed in: 'We made you, you cretin.'

Arsenal reached the quarter-finals of last season's Champions League before they were eliminated by Bayern Munich.

The Gunners are one of the favourites for this year's competition, evidenced by their comfortable win over PSG, but many other fans poured cold water on Havertz's ambitions of lifting the trophy again.

One said: 'I hate to break it to you Kai, but that’s never happening. Unlucky.'

Meanwhile, another supporter added: 'Good luck with that,' before a final fan said: 'It won't happen at Arsenal though.'

Arsenal currently sit eighth in the Champions League league stage after a draw and a victory in their two games.

Mikel Arteta's side face further league stage fixtures against Shakhtar Donetsk, Inter Milan, Sporting Lisbon, Monaco, Dinamo Zagreb and Girona.

They return to action on Saturday, when they take on struggling Southampton at home in the Premier League.
