Lazio weigh up a potential move for £40m Man United outcast

Serie A side Lazio are weighing up a potential move for Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof before the summer transfer window closes.

Lindelof has been named as one of the many Manchester United players that could be offloaded this summer, but a deal has not yet materialised.

However, Lazio have registered a tentative interest in taking the 30-year-old off United's hands as they look to bolster their backline for the 2024-2025 season.

But, Lindelof has not trained in more than three weeks due to a toe injury and only managed two halves of football during United's pre-season campaign.

The 30-year-old's latest setback comes after a 2023-24 season in which he missed 22 games for club and country due to hamstring and groin injuries.

Nevertheless, Lazio will have to battle it out with Fiorentina, Eintracht Frankfurt and a few Saudi Pro League clubs for Lindelof's services this summer.

Meanwhile, Ajax have registered an interest in re-signing Christian Eriksen - although no offers for the 32-year-old have been tabled as of yet.

Eriksen began his senior club career at age 18 in 2010, playing for, where he won three Eredivisie titles and the KNVB Cup before leaving for Tottenham in 2013.

He previously revealed he had spoken to United boss Erik ten Hag about his situation at the club and insisted he was not happy about his lack of pitch-time.

'I have previously stated that I am not satisfied with not playing, but it's not something that keeps me up at night,' said Eriksen.

'I have had a conversation with Erik about being unhappy with the situation and wanting to play as much as possible, but I am available and need to be available for the team, which I am and always will be.

'He said it was the team he had chosen, and is doing well, and the rest of the midfield is also performing well, so there is competition for places, which is expected when playing for a top club. There is great competition within the team.'
