Liverpool starlet Bobby Clark completes £10m move to Red Bull Salzburg

Red Bull Salzburg have completed the signing of talented youngster Bobby Clark from Liverpool, with the midfielder moving on a £10million deal.

Clark made his breakthrough last season and excelled amid an injury crisis, with the former Newcastle academy kid playing in the Carabao Cup final victory at Wembley.

But the 19-year-old has now moved to Austria after the club were successful with their third bid.

He was wowed by former Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders and coach Vitor Matos, who are now in charge at Salzburg.

Liverpool retain a 17.5 per cent sell-on clause in the deal and also will have matching rights – meaning they will be given the chance to match any bid made for Clark in the future.

Clark did not go on the Reds’ pre-season tour due to a back injury but is fine now.

His sale adds more money to the coffers for Liverpool after Fabio Carvalho moved to Brentford for £27.5m and is in line to face the Reds on Sunday at Anfield.

Clark said: ‘After an incredible three years at Liverpool, I’ve decided it’s time for a new challenge.

'I’ve learned so much during my time at the club and am very thankful for the opportunities and experiences I’ve had. Thank you to all the fans who supported me.’

The Bees are also in advanced talks to sign Liverpool defender Sepp van den Berg for around £25m but face competition from Bayer Leverkusen.

Meanwhile, fellow Reds youngster Harvey Blair is close to joining Championship side Portsmouth.

The 20-year-old forward featured on Liverpool’s tour of America but is now in talks to join John Mousinho’s side for a fee of around £300,000.
