Liverpool unable to stay at their usual luxury hotel for Leipzig clash

Liverpool have reportedly been forced to make alternative accommodation arrangement for their trip to Leipzig in the Champions League this week.

Arne Slot's side are due to land in the east German city on Tuesday evening ahead of their clash against RB Leipzig on Wednesday but their stay will be different to that experienced in the past.

The Reds were resident in the five-star luxury Steigenberger hotel when they faced the Bundesliga outfit in a friendly in 2022 and the lavish lodge has played host to a number of Leipzig's opponents.

But according to the German outlet Bild, Liverpool have been forced to relocate to the comparatively ordinary surrounds of The Westin due to a conference taking place in the city this week.

Though little sympathy need be afforded to the Merseysiders who, despite the change, will still be resident in a four-star hotel that has welcomed several football teams as well as the Germany national teams in recent years.

Slot's side are looking to build on their perfect start to their Champions League campaign, having beaten AC Milan and Bologna in their first two outings.

They will no doubt be buoyed by their win over Chelsea on Sunday which saw them retain top spot in the Premier League as the brilliant start to life under Slot shows no sign of abating.

The Dutchman has now claimed 10 wins in his first 11 matches as Reds boss, having taken over from legendary manager Jurgen Klopp in the summer, and a win on Wednesday night would be their eighth victory on the bounce in all competitions.

Slot's staggering winning record in the English top-flight has only been bettered by one of his coaching idols, Pep Guardiola. The former Feyenoord boss revealed in a recent interview that he has been showing his players videos of the Spaniard's great Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester City sides and told them those are the standards they must strive towards.

'I showed my players in recent years clips of Manchester City and Pep Guardiola but I also showed them Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool.' He told the Men In Blazers YouTube channel.

'This mostly had to do with how intense these two teams pressed, the workrate these top professionals had.

Arne Slot's side are looking to extend their winning run in the competition, having dispatched AC Milan and Bologna

'As managers, we are all the same - you try to steal ideas from different managers. So many good managers are out there.

'Pep is not only a difficult task for us to face but he is also leading a team with a lot of quality. The good thing for us is that we also have a lot of quality.'

Slot will get the chance to test himself against the City boss when the Reds face the Premier League champions on December 1. However, before that he will look to guide his side past Leipzig who are still pointless in the Champions League despite sitting joint-top of the Bundesliga.
