Loxx Boxx offers a package delivery box to deter porch pirates but with a twist: App controls and smart monitoring options so you can get immediate updates about your deliveries and control access remotely. That's an interesting option for those who don't have a video doorbell or businesses that need to keep a particularly close eye on valuable deliveries.

The price for all that high-tech theft defense is -- well, the price. In addition to the upfront cost when you purchase a Boxx (around $300 - $350), you also need to pay for a subscription to get access to app features, which start around $4 per month.

Now Loxx Boxx is making that deal sweeter with a redesigned app and new features, including a free year of service before you have to start paying. The app now integrates with Gmail too, which is ideal if you prefer to get package notifications in your email rather than on your phone (again, nice for businesses).

There's also new tracking support in the app, which can receive information from more than 1,000 couriers to provide specific package updates. You can learn when a package has come into town, when it's out for delivery and the very moment the courier accesses the box to drop the package inside. It also works with Alexa now, so Alexa can provide updates if the box is being used, as well as give you verbal updates on a package's arrival.

Delivery boxes are a simple but highly effective defense against waiting porch pirates.

With the new app, Loxx Boxx has some of the most in-depth controls on the market, ideal for those willing to spend money to keep a constant eye on regular, important deliveries that might otherwise be stolen. And with a subscription, Loxx Boxx guarantees up to $500 of the cost of any delivered item that's properly contained but nonetheless stolen. The company reports that around 119 million packages were nabbed in 2023. We've found that up to $74 billion in delivery value could be at stake.

We're seeing delivery protection boxes like these as an increasingly common offering fight package theft, although none are quite as high-tech as the Loxx Boxx offerings. Boxes like these have the potential to become just as integral to a smart home as a video doorbell or smart thermostat, which is why we're keeping a close eye on them.
