Man City pay emotional tribute to former manager Sven-Goran Eriksson

Manchester City paid tribute to former manager Sven-Goran Eriksson by observing an emotional minute's applause before kick-off against West Ham on Saturday.

The 76-year-old passed away on Monday after losing his battle with pancreatic cancer, with the world of football mourning the Swede who was a prolific manager across European football.

Eriksson previously took charge at City following his previous spell as England boss that saw him lead the Three Lions to the World Cup and European Championship.

He also managed Leicester City in England along with spells in Italy managing the likes of Roma, Lazio and Sampdoria in a legendary coaching career that spanned across several nations.

City and West Ham players gathered in the centre circle prior to their Premier League contest at the London stadium as fans also went quiet for the moment of respect.

A black and white picture of the Swede was also displayed on the television screens throughout the stadium, with other clubs across England following in suit.

Eriksson previously took charge of 45 matches as City boss during a tenure that was at the start of the club's Abu Dhabi based overhaul that has transformed the club into one of the world's best.

His final match in the City dugout came during a shock 8-1 defeat against Middlesborough that ultimately resulted in Eriksson being dismissed from his position.
