Man City star Erling Haaland makes Marc Cucurella eat his words

Following Spain's Euro 2024 success, in which Cucurella played a key part, the left back was seen chanting during the parade: 'Haaland you'd better tremble, because Cucurella is coming'.

However, it was Cucurella who was left trembling as Haaland opened his account for the campaign by scoring in the 18th minute by brushing off the left-back.

Gary Neville praised Haaland for his goal. Speaking on Sky Sports, Neville said: 'You wonder if he's taken one touch too many, but it's his strength and his power that allows him to hold off Cucurella and dink it past Sanchez… He's a beast.'

Cucurella received some criticism during the early stages of his Chelsea tenure following his switch from Brighton in 2022.

The whole chant, which Cucurella repeated, goes: 'Cucu, Cucurella, he eats paella, Cucu, Cucurella he drinks Estrella, Haaland you'd better tremble as Cucurella is coming'.

As Spain won Euro 2024, Cucurella produced some excellent performances throughout the tournament.

Haaland, who often starts the campaign in impressive fashion, is hoping to fire City to the title again.

The striker was making his 100th appearance for City and scored his 91st goal for the club.

Pep Guardiola's side have won the Premier League in each of the past four seasons.
