Manchester United have reportedly switched their focus away from Manuel Ugarte in their quest to sign a new midfielder.
As reported by The Athletic, United are now looking at other options as they are unwilling to meet Paris Saint-Germain's asking price of around €60million (£51million) for Ugarte.
The Uruguyan midfielder had been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford but United will not pursue a move unless PSG lower their asking price.
United had considered signing Ugarte, who joined PSG from Sporting last year, but a deal now appears unlikely.
Scott McTominay's future is uncertain, which could increase United's need for a midfielder
United boss Erik ten Hag is eager to bring in a new midfielder as he looks to strengthen his squad.
The Red Devils have already signed defender Leny Yoro, who joined from Lille for an initial fee of £52million.
Meanwhile, forward Joshua Zirkzee arrived from Bologna. Yoro, however, has been ruled out for around three months with a foot injury.
