Meta Connect 2024, the Facebook-maker's developer conference, on Wednesday saw the launch of Meta's newest VR headset, the Meta Quest 3S, which set to launch officially on Oct. 15. With the new entry-level mixed-reality headset starting at just $300, this is a more affordable entry into VR than the Meta Quest 3, and with Meta discontinuing the Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro, it will be the cheapest version available. Preorders for the new device have already launched at multiple retailers and we've gathered them below to make your purchase process a breeze.
CNET's own Scott Stein got to have hands-on experience with the Meta Quest 3S, and while a full review is forthcoming, his initial impression was that the "the Quest 3S is a really good price for what it can do."

The new model comes equipped with the same Qualcomm Snapdragon XR 2 Gen 2 chip found in the Meta Quest 3, and has a better color passthrough camera to enable mixed reality like its predecessor. The controllers are the same as well. However, it also has the Fresnel lenses and display resolution of the now discontinued Quest 2. If you're willing to splurge a little more, the $500 Meta Quest 3 may be worth the added cost for the additional storage and higher quality lenses and displays.
But if you're looking for a lower cost, this headset upgrade has a lot to offer, including access to apps and games that older Meta Quest consoles can't run. If you do choose to upgrade to the Meta Quest 3S, Meta's also throwing in a free download of the new game Batman: Arkham Shadow with purchase and you'll also get a three-month subscription to Meta Quest Plus. Just note that the subscription service will run you $8 per month, once your trial expires.
You can preorder the 128GB model for $300 and the 256GB version for $400 directly from Meta. If you purchase the 128GB or 256GB version between now and April 30, 2025, you'll get Batman: Arkham Shadow for free, along with a three-month trial of Meta Quest Plus.

Walmart also has both the 128GB and 256GB versions of the Meta Quest 3S available for preorder now. Like with Amazon, you'll get a free game (Batman: Arkham Shadow) and a three-month trial of Meta Quest Plus included with your purchase.
Best Buy has both the 128GB and the 256GB models of the Meta Quest 3S available for preorder now. As with other retailers, the Batman: Arkham Shadow game and a three-month trial of Meta Quest Plus are included with your purchase.
Newegg is getting in on the preorder action, too. You can preorder either the 128GB or the 256GB version of the Meta Quest 3S now, and like with the others, you'll score three months of Meta Quest Plus and the Batman: Arkham Shadow game for free.
