Moveworks rolls out automation platform for building AI agents

Moveworks Inc., a generative artificial intelligence copilot for enterprise employee support, today announced the launch of Agentic Automation, an automation platform that enables developers to create powerful AI agents.

AI agents are automation tools that can intelligently perform specific or complex tasks without human intervention. Enterprise organizations also use AI agents to answer questions and automate processes that would otherwise take human workers a long time to complete, such as entering data, completing research and updating information.

Moveworks said that though many companies have rolled out agentic AI developer platforms, many are built on traditional integrations, such as integration-platform-as-a-service, which require specialized connectors and commands to operate properly. These platforms don’t mesh well with AI agents, the company claims, which use natural language inputs from users and must translate those into software codes that application programming interfaces to use tools.

To resolve this, the company added a manifest generator to its AI agent builder, this tool helps interface with large language models by generating a manifest of plugins, tools and APIs so the names and their uses are well-known. As a result, user utterances and prompts can be dynamically adjusted so the AI agent can map to the correct plugin or tool more effectively.

The company also built what it calls a Slot Resolver, a technique that uses agentic AI systems to convert natural language into reliable, API-friendly IDs. For example, it will automatically convert “ACME account,” into its Salesforce ID “00ORd00000P8QZMD03.”

“Traditional automation tools are not designed for AI agents,” said Varun Singh, co-founder and president of Moveworks. “Developers need a completely new platform if they want to effectively build agents within their business. Agentic Automation gives developers full control to build and deploy complex workflows that scale across the organization — without the typical constraints of external integrations.”

Under the hood, the company said, AI agents run on an action orchestrator that connects to the Moveworks Copilot Reasoning Engine and informs it about actions that are planned, in progress and complete. Developers can also extend its power with Moveworks Copilot and connect it to other business applications, including collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams and Slack.

The new Agentic Automation feature is part of the company’s Creator Studio offering, which allows developers to build advanced AI chatbots and now AI workflows using a no-code interface. The feature is now available to Moveworks customers for no additional cost.
