New Aston Villa signing has asked Emery to coach him in Spanish

One of Aston Villa's new signings has revealed that he has asked manager Unai Emery to coach him in Spanish.

However, the player himself is unable to speak the language.

The recent acquisition is eager to make an instant impression at Villa Park, especially with many of Emery's coaching staff being from Spain.

The player stated that he already speaks five languages and is now looking to learn Spanish.

There have been some significant arrivals at Villa this summer as Emery's side prepare to compete in the Champions League.

One of Aston Villa's new signings says he wants Unai Emery to coach him in Spanish

Amadou Onana is eager for Emery to coach him in Spanish. The midfielder became Villa's club-record signing when he joined from Everton for £50million last month.

Onana already speaks Wolof (which is spoken in Senegal), French, English, German and Dutch.

As reported by The Sun, Onana said: 'I've asked Unai Emery and his staff to speak to me in Spanish so that I can answer in Spanish.

'I already speak five languages, Wolof — from my childhood growing up in Senegal — French, German, English and Dutch. But I'm learning a sixth.

'I love Spain and go there at least once a year. It's a beautiful language and it would be nice to be able to speak it more fluently.

'Obviously it's going to be easier here with so many Spanish- speaking staff, so Unai can help me improve my Spanish as well as my football!'

Onana possesses plenty of Premier League experience having made over 60 appearances in the division for Everton. He has also previously played in the Champions League for Lille.

In addition to Onana, Villa have also signed players including Ian Maatsen, Ross Barkley, Samuel Iling-Junior, Lewis Dobbin and Jaden Philogene.
