Chelsea's newest signing Filip Jorgensen wants to waste no time in becoming their starting goalkeeper, saying he is ready to compete with Robert Sanchez and confident when passing out from the back.

Signing on a seven-year contract, he spoke to reporters after appearing for the first time, telling us he is relishing his friendly rivalry with Sanchez.

'Competition is always good,' Jorgensen said.

'I came here to compete with him and then, of course, the one who chooses is the manager. I try to do my best every day, get better.

Jorgensen made his Blues debut this week in a 3-0 friendly win over Club America in Atlanta

'In Spain, we also always try to build from the back and play with the goalkeeper. I would say I'm pretty confident with that.

'Now, obviously, I have some knowledge of how the manager wants to play but it's been very quick.

'I've seen some videos. I trained yesterday. But I'm looking forward to getting to know his style of play better.

'Everyone welcomed me very well. Robert as well. He seems to be a very good guy, a good trainer, and I think we will compete good. A healthy competition. We will have good competition.'

Jorgensen had only recently signed a new contract with Villarreal but was a wanted man in the summer, revealing how other Premier League clubs tried to sign him.

Jorgensen has said that he is already confident and capable when it comes to using his feet

Robert Sanchez also played 45 minutes for Chelsea against Club America earlier this week

'In the summer, we got some clubs calling, and they wanted me to come,' Jorgensen said. 'But in the end, when Chelsea called, there was no doubt for me. The club and my agent, we knew it was Chelsea where we wanted to go, so I'm very happy.

'It's been busy. Many new things to take in. It's been busy. But finally, I've taken the first steps. I'm very happy. Now we have to keep building and getting to know the players better.'
