Paris Olympics 2024 Opening Ceremony LIVE Updates: The Paris Olympics opening ceremony is on in Paris. An unprecedented and ambitious show with up to 7,000 athletes parading down the River Seine past the historic monuments of the French capital despite the risk of rain dampening spirits. For the first time in Olympic history, the opening ceremony is taking place outside the main stadium, with some 300,000 people watching in person from specially built stands on the river banks, and another 200,000 from overlooking balconies and apartments. Opening Ceremony Live Updates: World leaders present
Not only athletes, World leaders began arriving at President Emmanuel Macron's Elysee Palace office Friday afternoon, an AFP journalist saw, ahead of the Paris Olympics opening ceremony in the evening. Macron and his wife Brigitte welcomed the guests on a red carpet in the courtyard of the Elysee, where they are holding a reception for around 85 heads of state or government before the ceremony on the River Seine.

Olympics 2024 Live: Food not adequate!
An interesting development - away from the opening ceremony - Despite stories of Michelin-starred chefs helping prepare the menus in Paris, Andy Anson, the British Olympic Association's chief executive, has complained that the food in the Olympic Village "is not adequate," with complaints over small portions and a lack of high-protein foods. "There are not enough of certain foods: eggs, chicken, certain carbohydrates," Anson told 'The Times' newspaper.

Olympics 2024 Live: Athletes' parade
The six kilometer parade began from Austerlitz bridge and 85 boats carried more than 6800 athletes from 205 nations and one Refugee Olympic team, with a good number of them skipping the incredible show due to their competitions on Saturday.
The Indian contingent is being led by two flag-bearers -- two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu and table tennis legend A Sharath Kamal.

The opening ceremony of the Olympic Games began with the 'Parade of the Nations' in which athletes from 205 countries sailed down the iconic Seine river on boats, marking a dreamy break from tradition despite rain threatening to play spoilsport.
French President Emmanuel Macron and International Olympic Committee head Thomas Bach were in attendance as French football legend Zinedine Zidane was shown sprinting down the streets of Paris with the Olympic flame in a pre-recorded video.
