Defensive tackle Ruke Orhorhoro expressed his gratitude and excitement after being drafted by the Atlanta Falcons with the No. 35 overall pick.
Orhorhoro had kept an Atlanta Falcons hat given to him at the NFL Combine as a memento. After Atlanta traded up to select him, he said, "I got it on my head right now, so I'm glad I kept it."
The Falcons traded with the Arizona Cardinals, moving up eight spots in the second round, losing a third-rounder, and acquiring another sixth-rounder. Orhorhoro said, "It means they really wanted me and they really saw something in me."
Orhorhoro, a five-year Clemson product, had a standout final season, starting all 12 games, recording 22 tackles, five sacks, and a pass breakup. He was a third-team All-ACC selection.
When asked about his style of play, Orhorhoro described himself as fast, physical, and aggressive. Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney echoed these claims, praising Orhorhoro's athleticism, length, and versatility.
Swinney also emphasized Orhorhoro's high character and potential for growth. Orhorhoro acknowledged areas for improvement in his footwork, hand usage, and setting blocks.
He expressed excitement about joining the Falcons, specifically the opportunity to learn from veterans like Grady Jarrett. Orhorhoro said, "I can't let them down, and I'll do everything in my will power to not let them down."
