Cole Palmer, Conor Gallagher and Marc Cucurella will not rejoin Chelsea’s squad in the United States as the trio of Euro 2024 finalists are being afforded an extended break after the Euro 2024 final.
Cucurella played the full 90 minutes in that showdown won by Spain, assisting the winner which defeated England a week before Chelsea flew away for their pre-season tour.
Mail Sport has been told that the club are not planning on bringing their three finalists out to begin training with new head coach Enzo Maresca ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.
Flying them out for the latter stages of the tour was considered, but the club ultimately decided it was best if they returned to Cobham to work with coaches and await their team-mates’ return.
Given the change in time zones, it could have been more of a hindrance than a help.
Chelsea's Euros stars Cole Palmer, Conor Gallagher and Marc Cucurella will have to wait until later in August to finally link-up with their new head coach Enzo Maresca back in England
New Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca decided the jetlag wasn't worth it for Palmer, Gallagher and Cucurella - the three will instead enjoy an extended break after Euro 2024
Palmer scored England's only goal in the Euro 2024 final against Spain. Within two days of that defeat, he was working with his personal trainer as he looks to build on the outstanding last season he enjoyed with Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Enzo Fernandez is due to link up with his team-mates in the United States after sparking a racism storm following the Copa America final won by Argentina.
His arrival is expected on Monday when he will need to mend the mess he created after uploading a video to his Instagram showing members of the Argentinian squad singing a racist and homophobic chant about France.
Chelsea have four more games in the USA. They face Brendan Rodgers' Celtic at Notre Dame Stadium, Indiana, 9pm (UK time) on Saturday.
The Blues then crisscross the USA with a match against Club America in Atlanta, Georgia, and a game against Premier League rivals Manchester City in Ohio, before the final game of the tour against Real Madrid in Charlotte, North Carolina.
