Play SUSPENDED in Madrid derby after fans throw missiles at players

Play in the Madrid derby has been suspended after Atletico Madrid fans at the Metropolitano Stadium threw missiles at rival players.

After a tense first 45 minutes, Eder Militao gave the visitors the lead just after the hour mark.

The opener erupted simmering tensions inside the stadium and just minutes later fans began throwing objects on to the pitch in the direction of Real Madrid players.

It is getting heated in the Madrid derby…

Diego Simeone had to go over to the Atletico Madrid fans in the crowd and tell them to stop throwing items at the Real Madrid players.

The referee led both sets of players off the pitch as he attempted to restore order.

Diego Simeone could be subsequently seen walking over to the home fans to plead with them to cease so the action could get back underway.
