Sony's new and improved PlayStation 5 console made its way to markets in November last year -- most notably, featuring a slimmer build and slightly increased storage space. While the disc-version remained the same cost, the discless one suffered a $50 rise in price. The good news is that as part of early Prime Day sales for October, Amazon has discounted both of them by $70 or more. The digital-only model is currently down to $380, with the disc drive-equipped model seeing a slightly larger price cut of $73, taking it down to $427. In both cases, you'll be grabbing the console at its best price since launch.

These deals are well worth taking advantage of if you want to access next-gen games like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Demon's Souls and many more. Just note that these prices are exclusively available to Prime members.

"I'm extremely impressed with the entire PS5 package," wrote CNET's Dan Ackerman in his review of the original 2020 model. "The design is bold. The new controller is a big step forward, both in ergonomics and features, and the addition of the new built-in controller mic (and sold-separately new HD webcam) will no doubt send many new streamers to Twitch and other platforms to show off."

Aside from the slimmer design, the only noticeable difference under the hood is that the new model has 1TB of storage instead of 825GB. The disc drive can also be removed. If you're a basketball fan, a PS5 digital edition bundle with NBA 2K25 has similarly dropped in price, from $500 to $427 -- again being the lowest price we've seen at the retailer. A great excuse to treat yourself, as we're unsure if the holiday sales will beat this.
