REVEALED: Sven's Ultimate World XI with NO England players included

Sven-Goran Eriksson revealed his Ultimate World XI of players he has coached back in 2020, with his team not including any that featured for him during his five-year stint with England.

The former England boss tragically passed away following a battle with cancer at the age of 76.

Eriksson revealed in January that he had pancreatic cancer and was approaching the end of his life, with a statement released on behalf of his family to confirm the news of his passing on Monday morning.

The Swede managed England's 'Golden Generation' from 2001 to 2006, reaching the quarter-final stage at all three major competitions under his guidance.

Despite having the likes of Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard at his disposal, Eriksson didn't pick any England stars in his Ultimate World XI during a guest appearance on Monday Night Football in 2020.

Eriksson didn't name any England players in his Ultimate World XI selection on the show

Kasper Schmeichel, who Eriksson signed for Leicester, was part of his world selection

Alessandro Nesta (top left), Sinisa Mihahlovic (top third from right), Pavel Nedved, Roberto Mancini and Juan Sebastian Veron (bottom row right three) all made his selection

Eriksson, who did pick a separate England XI on the show, included two former Premier League players as well as a title-winning manager for Manchester City in his team.

GK: Kasper Schmeichel

RB: Sebastiano Nela

CB: Sinisa Mihajlovic

CB: Alessandro Nesta

LB: Pavel Nedved

RM: Juan Sebastian Veron

CM: Roberto Mancini

CM: Falcao

LM: Ruud Gullit

FC: Torbjorn Nilsson

FC: Roberto Baggio

Kasper Schmeichel, who he managed at Manchester City, was selected in goal.

'Schmeichel, outside England he was the best goalkeeper I had', explained Eriksson who knew the Danish shot-stopped from his time at Man City, and was also the manager who signed him for Leicester in 2011.

The only other ex-Premier League player to make his team was former Manchester United and Chelsea midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron.

Eriksson, who managed Veron at his title-winning Lazio side, said: 'I don't understand why Veron wasn't good in the Premier League.

'The football brain that guy has. I think he needs to feel like a leader, if not he will be a little bit down.'

Pavel Nedved, who also played for Eriksson at Lazio, was surprisingly selected at left-back so that he could fit into the team.

Brazilian midfielder Roberto Falcao, was Eriksson's pick for the best player that he managed, with the pair having worked together at Roma.

'Falcao was the coach on the pitch. The players sometimes told me that we cannot play without him. He had the vision, elegant player. He had everything.'

Ruud Gullit (pictured for Chelsea) made the XI after playing under Eriksson at Sampdoria

Rudd Gullit, Torbjorn Nillson and Roberto Baggio also formed part of Eriksson's side.

Eriksson added: 'Gullit's power made him stand out, I had him in Sampdoria. I wanted to show the world that he was good and he was good. He played as a striker but also right midfield sometimes. Quick, good technique.

'Nilsson, I think he was the best of all these (strikers), he was fantastic. Liverpool they followed him, 1982 I think, for two months but he chose to go to Germany instead and that was a big mistake. He was out of this world. Roma wanted him, many teams wanted him. He went to the wrong country at that time.

'Baggio was the golden Italian boy for sure and he signed for Fiorentina when he was 18, 19. You could see at once he would be something very, very special.'

Eriksson's England XI included many of his famous 'Golden Generation' players including Paul Scholes, David Beckham and Wayne Rooney

Joe Hart was the only player not to play for Eriksson's Three Lions team to make the England XI after playing for the Swede during their time together at Manchester City

Eriksson, who held the role of England manager between 2001 and 2006, was hugely popular but couldn't lead the Three Lions to success and left his role after the 2006 World Cup

The rest of his side included defenders Sebastiano Nela, Sinisa Mihajlovic and Alessandro Nesta, as well as former Premier League title winning manager Roberto Mancini.

In total, five of his XI were part of his title-winning team with Lazio in 1999-2000 which featured Veron, Nedved, Mancini, Nesta and Mihajlovic.

Falcao and Nela played for Eriksson at Roma, Gullit at Sampdoria and Baggio at Fiorentina.

Nilsson was the only player to play for Eriksson in his native Sweden which made the cut at IFK Goteborg.

Eriksson also selected an England XI which included one shot-stopper he didn't manage for the Three Lions.

Joe Hart, who Eriksson knew from his time at Manchester City, made the XI over David Seaman,  David James and Paul Robinson.

The rest of the team was effectively the 'Golden Generation' with Gary Neville, Rio Ferdinand, John Terry and Ashley Cole in defence.

David Beckham, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and Paul Scholes made up the midfield, with Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney up front.
