Rice reveals surprise new gig could factor into post-retirement plans

Arsenal star Declan Rice has revealed a rather unique profession could factor into his post-football plans.

At age 25, Rice is in the prime of his career and has plenty of years left at the top for club and country.

But it hasn't stopped the Gunners midfielder from thinking about what will come next in life after he inevitably hangs up the boots for good.

It would still involve a performance in front of a crowd, but he would no longer be serenaded by tens of thousands of supporters singing his name.

Instead, he'd be strolling down a runway with techno music blaring in the background.

Rice revealed he would be interested in becoming a model, such was his enjoyment at walking the runway during a London Fashion Week show at the Emirates.

'You know what, it was so good,' Rice told Sky Sports.

'Really, really enjoyed doing it. Obviously my first time in the kit, speaking to a lot of the people then, they said me and Ghetts done well.

'So listen, I'll listen to the pros and I'll take that. So yeah, really happy. Buzzing. Been an amazing first day and experience.

'It might be a career after football now, I don't know. But no, I enjoy these type of things. I love fashion and to be asked to be involved in this is really special so you know it was something I couldn't turn down and then to do it now I'm here, I'm really, really happy.'

During the Labrum fashion show at the Emirates, Rice donned a navy jacket which had a white lace up tie down the front.

He paired that with matching trousers along with a white buttoned shirt and black Adidas trainers.

Rice later took in the Burberry show where he had a front-row seat next to Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand and his wife Kate.

The 25-year-old's appearance at the Labrum fashion show was the latest event in his efforts to show fans a glimpse into his second career.

Rice recently launched a new Instagram account with the handle @dr.jpg, where he uploads photography.

His first post on the new account showed behind-the-scenes photos in England's dressing room during the international break, including snaps of Harry Kane, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Noni Madueke.

Rice's second post showcased snaps taken at the Beaverbrook Golf Course in Leatherhead.

At the time of writing, Rice's @dr.jpg account boasts just over 50,000 followers on Instagram.

As for Rice's on-field contributions this season, he will be eagerly awaiting his return to Arsenal's line-up after he was controversially sent off against Brighton.

The 25-year-old received a second yellow for nudging the ball away to prevent Brighton taking a free kick, although it was a minimal touch.

He was subsequently suspended for Arsenal's 1-0 win over Tottenham in the north London derby but will be eligible for their bumper clash against Manchester City on Sunday.

Rice also grabbed headlines during the international break when he refused to celebrate after scoring the opening goal of England's 2-0 win over Ireland.

The midfielder made three appearances for Ireland before he switched his international allegiance to England and revealed he did not celebrate out of respect to his dad's side of the family, who are all Irish.
